So, from January 18th tll 20th, an important meeting of the Steering Committee of the project has been held in Liège (Belgium). On the agenda, a review of the platform architecture, functionalities and ergonomics of this future version. Claroline Consortium is presently working on the future new version of Claroline platform (Code name: Claronext). So, from January 18th till 20th, an important meeting of the Steering Committee of the project has been held in Liège (Belgium). On the agenda, a review of the platform architecture, functionalities and ergonomics of this future version which will be more centered on the user (access through a virtual desktop) and on resources (independence of resources and courses), more modular (with therefore extended possibilities of individual configuration and new functionalities, not only educational), more generic (speaking about activity area instead of course) and easily working in all environments (portal, …). So a major evolution, but not a revolution, considering that the platform will remain characterized by its userfriendliness (intuitivity and usability), its flexibility (educational plasticity) and its stabillity, considering too that the platform will remain open source and that the migration will be documented for the users from the 1.9 version. In this context, the Steering Committee expects a great number of suggestions to come from the community of Claroline users. Therefore, do not hesitate to submit your comments and ideas in the users’ forums. Moreover, please note that the development of the new version will not impede the evolution of the present version : new modules will soon be available for version 1.9 and version 1.10 will be distributed in September 2010. |
