Consortium > Presentation
The Claroline Consortium is an international non-profit association that aims at organizing the promotion and the development of the Claroline platform at the technical and pedagogical level. It was born on May 23, 2007 during the second annual conference of Claroline users that was held at the Vigo University, Spain.
At the beginning, the Consortium brought together five founder institutions :
- Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium
- Haute Ecole Léonard de Vinci, Belgium
- Universidade de Vigo, Spain
- Université du Québec à Rimouski, Canada
- Universidad Católica del Norte, Chile
But today, these founders members have been joined by several other institutions which acquired the status of full member:
- Ecole Centrale de Lyon, France
- Université Blaise Pascal de Clermont-Ferrand, France
- Université de Montpellier, France
- AWT Agence Wallonne des Télécommunications, Belgium
- Université Jean Monnet de Saint-Etienne, France
- EMLYON Business School, France
- University of Columbia School of Law, USA
- Université Mohammed Premier d’Oujda, Morocco
- Haute École Louvain en Hainaut, Belgium
- Centre de formation Formagraph, France
And the partnership process is still open today to every user – person or organization, from education world or companies world – interested in collaborating to the development and promotion of the Claroline platform.
Why a Consortium?
A growing community with shared needs and wishes… The Consortium answers to the necessity of coordinating the efforts of all people, users and developers, involved in the Claroline project. It offers them a natural place for discussion and exchange.
The main objectives of the Consortium are federating the users’ and developers ‘community and establishing dynamic and effective relationship between its members. Its mission aims also in deciding the platform evolution strategy.
This collaboration will give Claroline a particular impulse in terms of development and visibility. The platform will evolve faster, in accordance with the knowledge and competence society, and will be able to rely on a wide network of privileged partners around the world.
