The Claroline Consortium is an international non-profit association that aims at organizing the promotion and the development of the Claroline platform at the technical and pedagogical level. It was born on May 23, 2007 during the second annual conference of Claroline users that was held at the Vigo University, Spain.
The Consortium brings together five founder institutions :
- Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium
- Haute Ecole Léonard de Vinci, Belgium
- Universidade de Vigo, Spain
- Université du Québec à Rimouski, Canada
- Universidad Católica del Norte, Chile
But today it opens its doors to every user - person or organization – interested in collaborating to the development and promotion of the Claroline platform.
Why a Consortium?
A growing community with shared needs and wishes… The Consortium answers to the necessity of coordinating the efforts and strengths of all the people involved in the Claroline project. It will offer the users and developers a new place for discussion and exchange.
The main objectives of the Consortium are federating the users’ community and establishing dynamic and effective relationships between its members. It has also for mission to redefine the platform evolution strategy.
This reinforced collaboration will give Claroline a new impulse in terms of development and visibility. The platform will evolve faster, in accordance with the knowledge and competence society, and will be able to rely on a wide network of privileged partners around the world.
