Claroline is working with INOVA laboratory from University of Paris VIII to make the platform 100 % compliant for people with sight disabilites.

You may have received by e-mail or seen on the web information originating from Thomas De Praetere, a former employee of UCL, suggesting that the development of Claroline by Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) might be discontinued and taken over by a new commercial company called Dokeos.

This is absolutely not the case. On the contrary, UCL remains firmly committed to the development of Claroline for educational purposes. The Institute for Higher Education and Multimedia (IPM) will maintain and develop the pedagogical know-how needed for the optimum use of this tool in higher education. We will continue to support and collaborate with all the users of Claroline worldwide. Moreover, additional funding has been secured to develop the functionalities of the software platform in collaboration with ECAM, Université de Liège and other partners users of Claroline.

We understand that the company Dokeos will be incorporated shortly by Thomas De Praetere and commercial partners in order to propose commercial services to Claroline users and to develop commercial applications. UCL has no interests in Dokeos.

The belgian economical newspaper L'Echo publishes an article in its "Start-up" columns : Claroline : Open Source training.

Eric Uyttebrouck & Thierry Henau of Université Libre de Bruxelles (Free University of Brussels) published an Evaluation of Claroline 1.4 (in French). The 47 pages article analyses Claroline features one by one and gives documented and argued comments that may proove usefull for the decision maker.

The CERDECAM (Centre de Recherche de l'Ecole Centrale des Arts et Metiers, Belgium) hires 2 developers and 1 ingeneer to develop ClaroDoc, a project tightly associated to Claroline development. More details to come but you can already send a CV and a motivation letter to CERDECAM's president Pascal PAQUET paq@ecam.be.

The General Bureau for Technology, Research and Energy of the Ministry of Walloon Region (Belgium, Europe) has decided to allow around 1M € to Claroline. Research and Development will be made in both ECAM (Ingeneers Higher Education) and University of Liège.
