Sébastien Piraux from the Claroline team released the new version 2.3 of phpLangEditor (PLE). PLE is a Firefox extension dedicated to the edition of php applications language files. It is the Claroline translation tool.

The Claroline team is pleased to announce the fifth update of the stable version of Claroline 1.8.

This update introduces a new export functionality in the users tool to obtain the CSV user list of the course.

In addition of bug fixes we have also added Shibboleth SSO (from Daniel Streiff) and LCS SSO (from Olivier Lécluse) in the authentication system.

Note : We invite any people currently using old Claroline 1.8 to upgrade their platform to this minor release. 

For its third edition, the Annual conference of Claroline users is invited by the Université du Québec at Rimouski (UQAR), Canada.

It will probably be held at the beginning of June 2008. The exact dates will be announced later.

There are a few new things to discover on the Claroline website:

• Two new tutorials about how to install Claroline and how to install modules on the platform

The Claroline team is happy to announce the creation of the Claroline Consortium. This international non-profit association was born on May, 23 during the ACCU 2007, at the initiative of five founder institutions :

• Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium
• Haute Ecole Léonard de Vinci, Belgium
• Universidade de Vigo, Spain
• Université du Québec à Rimouski, Canada
• Universidad Católica del Norte, Chile
  

The main goals of the new Consortium are federating the Claroline community, coordinating the platform development and promoting its use.

The second edition of the Annual Conference of Claroline Users was a great success, thanks to all the Claroline users who came to Vigo to share their eLearning experience.

A Claroline developer was on PureFM this weekend in PureBlog, the radio programme 100 % blog that analyses the news, the trends and the development of the blogosphere, the Internet and the mobile technologies.

Christophe Gesché, alias Moosh, explained how an Open Source project such as Claroline is built and developed.
